The Bar
Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered, weak and weary,
Over to the cooking jar I wondered and found one last delicious bar.
While nodding, feeling happy, suddenly there came a tapping,
As if some one gently rapping, rapping at the kitchen door.
“Someone caught me,“ I muttered, tapping at the kitchen door
Only this and nothing more.
As I ran to close the door,
The family canine got in before.
As I try to make it move,
It sat in front of the kitchen door.
Only this and nothing more.
As I try to kick the dog away,
It then later bit my leg.
As I tried to bear the pain in me,
The dog ran away from me.
Quickly exiting the kitchen door,
Only this and nothing more.
As I went back to the cookie jar,
To look for my delicious bar.
The chocolate inside was gone,
As if it was never in there before.
And on the floor was the wrapper,
Sitting next to the kitchen door.
The dog had finished my delicious bar,
Only this and nothing more.
